Before I trained as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist I worked in the retail sector. During this time, I noticed through interacting with both colleagues and customers how many of them were suffering with various forms of mental health.
This made me realise how so many of the people I met and worked with were suffering in silence. They all expressed that they felt their difficulties would resolve on there own, from what I witnessed this rarely occurred. This inspired me to enter the mental health profession.
I can confidently say that counselling can contribute to changes in your mental health. I know this from my own personal experiences and in the work that I do with my clients. You do not have to cope on your own, wear a mask, carry a secret or feel a fraud. You can enjoy life without being constantly tapped on the shoulder by your problems.
